Our garden furniture is designed and manufactured by Harbo who were founded in 1949 by Harry Bert Ohlsson. Harbo began as a wooden furniture design and manufacturing company based in Sweden and today the business has evolved, responding to the changes and developments in design trends and consumer taste.

Harbo outdoor collections include traditionally styled rattan weave, cast aluminium and new contemporary styles. The essence of Harbo is the small experienced team and over seventy years of design and manufacturing luxury garden furniture and outdoor leisure products.

Not all rattan weave is the same. A wide range of polyweave finishes are used in furniture manufacture that create a range of different styles and finishes.

A flat weave may be woven in a gloss or satin finish. It creates a smooth finish but has limited strength and durability.

A low-profile surface on the weave imparts texture and strength. This makes the furniture feel a more luxurious option that will give years of weather resistant durability.

A half round weave has a much more defined profile and is designed to give the appearance of fully woven rattan. It’s a great way to create a traditional feel and imparts more weight and rigidity to the furniture.

A full round weave replicates the natural, traditional feel of genuine rattan. Being hand woven in individual strands, furniture made in a full round weave is a high-quality item and is our heaviest and strongest weave.

We frequently use a full round weave to enhance pieces woven in a low profile or flat weave. It adds interest and durability to arms, table edges and trims.

All thread types can be woven in a variety of patterns, single or double threaded and with a range of cross threads to add texture and strength. Additional design elements can be added with mixing colours and multi-tone threads that give the appearance of multi-thread weave.

All our upholstered cushions are made from the highest quality polyester fibre inners with durable UV stabilised water repellent fabric covers. They are showerproof and quick drying and have been treated to be fire retardant in accordance with Furniture & furnishings Regulations 2010.
